Drones have become increasingly popular recently and can be used for many different applications. The U.S. Defense Department is hoping to develop a tiny drone to help troops in their missions. They look to nature’s flying creatures for inspiration for the tiny drone, specifically the goshawk. The goshawk is a bird that has the ability to navigate through dense forrest trees without running into them. Their requirements for the new tiny drone are the following:
– fly up to 45 mph
– navigate automatically through indoor environments
– not have to communicate to operators
Tiny drones have been developed in the past but none of them have been able to operate without humans controlling them.
