Seiichi Nakamura decided he was going to start making custom, high-end knives after retiring from engineering . Since then, he has made 400 knives but one that stands out is the 4th in the series called Benchmade 484. The blade is nicknamed “supersteel” because it is made out of M390 stainless steel which has 20% chromium and fine carbide structure. The blade has a Rockwell hardness rating of 60-62 HRC.
