A plan to reuse the steel of the old Bay Bridge was approved on Wednesday, October 1st by the Toll Bridge Program Oversight Committee. A new bridge was opened about a year ago and officials have been slowly demolishing the old bridge ever since. Arts organizations have been hoping for a program that would allow artists to reuse the steel and now they can. An estimated 300 tons of steel will be available for repurpose.
