NASA’s giant robot arm has been installed after making a trek across the county to get to NASA Langley in Hamton, Virginia. This robotic system, known as ISAAC, rotates and moves in order to pick up huge piles of carbon fibers and transfer them onto a 40-foot long bed to then be turned into aerospace parts. The intention is to have Isaac ready by 2015 for the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate’s Advanced Composites Project (ACP) to use. ACP aims to reduce the amount of time used for development, verification, and regulatory acceptance of new composite materials.
