Chromium is a type of metal that is hard and has a high melting point.  It is considered one of the most important materials because it’s hardness and corrosion-resistant qualities makes is one of the most industrial metals. This metal is used to create stainless steel, nonferrous alloys, and pigments used to process leather.  Stainless steel is made up of about 18 percent chromium. What makes chromium so important for the manufacturing of stainless steel is that it hardens the steel and also increases the steel’s corrosion resistance.
