Calcite is one of the most widely used minerals and has more uses than almost any other mineral.  It is used as the following:

  • construction material
  • abrasive
  • agricultural soil treatment
  • construction aggregate
  • pigment
  • pharmaceutical

Luckily, calcite is very common and found all around the world.  It can be found in sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks.  Calcite is also a huge component of both limestone and marble which are very common rocks.  It has a hardness level of 3 on Mohs hardness scale.
